John Dee
Director of Strategy at Somerford
After 35 years in the British Army’s Intelligence Corps, rising from Private to Lieutenant Colonel with operational service in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, the Gulf, and South Asia, John retired in 2019 to become Strategy Director at Somerford Associates. In this role, he bridges the public and private sectors by engaging senior stakeholders and aligning strategic business risks with emerging technologies, leveraging his deep background in information management for decision-makers.
Additionally, John leads Somerford’s strategic outreach, heads the Somerford Veterans Network, and spearheaded the company's Bronze and Silver Defence Employer Recognition scheme. He manages a 1,600-member military LinkedIn network and has personally helped around 350 military intelligence personnel transition into civilian employment over the past year.

Andy Slater
Global Observability & Automation Lead
Andy has been with Specsavers for the last 5 years and is the global Observability & Automation Lead; tasked with driving value from their Observability and AIOps tools. Specsavers use Splunk as their main observability platform taking advantage of their full product set and recently won an "Observability Visionary" award from Cisco for their work on observing modern cloud based services.
