Cybersecurity Mesh
—Taking Security to the Edge
Somerford Discovery Forum, Joined by Netskope, Island, Confluent, Lacework & AWS.
- 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM BST
- 13th June
Setting the Scene
One of the greatest security challenges that organisations face is security silos. Many companies deploy a range of point security solutions with the goal of addressing specific security risks. As a result, security architectures become complex and difficult to monitor and manage, leading to missed detections and delayed responses.
Coupled with the rapid transition to work-at-home ecosystems with various access solutions to organisations' databases and applications, there is a pressing need for a new strategy.
Enter the cybersecurity mesh, a decentralised concept that aims to protect the identity of the user or computer. The aim is to limit access to the organisation’s network to only approved users (or systems), whether on-premises or in the cloud. A cybersecurity mesh, in theory, helps the IT expertise to manage protection from each access point while also preventing an attacker from gaining access to the system.
If you would like to know more about cybersecurity mesh and how Somerford Associates with their partners can enable a 'Security to the Edge' framework, please join us on 13th June from 12pm at the Amazon Office, London.

Island - "Sometimes Changing one Thing Changes Everything"
Leveraging the open-source browser that all major browsers are based on, Island provides fine-grained policy control over every facet of a user’s interaction with a web application giving the enterprise limitless visibility, control and compliance with their most critical applications.
Island can serve as the platform for the future of productive and secured work.
Netskope - "We Help You Stay Ahead of Cloud, Data, and Network Security Challenges"
Cloud application traffic has overtaken web traffic in the enterprise, creating blind spots and complexity with existing legacy security and network solutions that were designed for access to data centers through on-premises security stacks.
A new approach to cloud security is needed that delivers the simplicity and agility for access, security, and performance that businesses need.
— Humza has worked in Cyber Security for 6+ years leveraging his technical expertise and passion for customer success to help organisations securely embrace cloud and web technologies.
Humza is now a Solutions Engineer at Netskope working closely with clients to understand their unique needs and design solutions that optimise their cloud security posture. His experience in cloud security and network engineering, combined with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts, allows Humza to bridge the gap between networking and security to secure an enterprises digital transformation journey.

Amazon Web Services - "Zero Trust on AWS"
Zero Trust is a security model centered on the idea that access to data should not be solely made based on network location. In this session, I will walk you through how AWS embodies Zero Trust principles with our services, and how AWS can help you on your own Zero Trust journey.
— As a Senior Network Specialist, I lead the EMEA team at AWS, where I focus on go-to-market strategies. I have successfully guided customers through digital transformations, helping them leverage the power of the cloud networking to drive innovation, scalability, and competitive advantage.
Before working in the cloud, I specialised in networking and security, leading the design and implementation of service provider networks and SDN solutions for data centres.
Confluent - " Optimise your Cyber Defense Solutions with Confluent"
Conventional cyber defence architectures can be slow, costly, and inflexible.
Confluent helps modernise your security monitoring architecture for speed and flexibility in order to capture and curate data at wire speed and petabyte scale, across distributed environments that conventional ingest approaches can’t match while filtering and enriching on the fly to deliver real-time situational awareness and response.
— Alex is a Senior Solutions Engineer at Confluent, coaching and guiding digital native businesses across Europe on their path to adopting Data in Motion.
